Corrine’s practice helps families across Manitoba through the complicated process of divorce and separation. She is a seasoned negotiator and family litigator with years of experience counselling on all matters of Family Law including financial and property evaluation, division of assets, spousal and child support, and custody. With settlement as the goal, whether via mediation or litigation, Corrine works tirelessly to provide closure and help you transition to the next chapter of your life. Because separation is an emotionally tense time for many families, and the nature of litigation can add pressure to an already difficult situation, Corrine approaches her work with the utmost respect for her clients and their families. Corrine has appeared in the Court of Queen’s Bench Family Division in Winnipeg and surrounding areas and the Manitoba Court of Appeal.

  • Why did you decide to go into your profession?

I really wanted to be in a profession where I could help people in their daily lives in a meaningful and impactful way. I also really enjoyed the challenge of taking the law and shaping it through legal argument to advance a case. It seemed like a great combination of being able to help people but use advocacy skills.

  • Tell us about your work.

I practice exclusively in the area of family law. I deal specifically with high conflict cases however I do have many files that are more cooperative in nature. My approach is to attempt a settlement quickly if possible, to minimize the stress and anxiety for the client. I am not afraid however to advance contested litigation if that is necessary.

  • How did you come to join your organization?

I was drawn to Taylor McCaffrey LLP as they had a large family law department and many lawyers who were leaders in the field and I wanted to learn from them.

  • Who has been the biggest influence on your career?

This is a hard question to answer. My parents were influential as I learned hard work and compassion from them. I have also had a number of lawyers along the way who have been instrumental in my professional development.

  • Name one skill you think every good professional should have.

  • What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working with a variety of different people and trying to make something that is hard for them a bit easier.

  • What's your best advice for a new professional in your field?

Hard work is the key to success. Do not try to wing it, always keep reading the law even if you think you know it.
